Build-a-Bear/Dino Outfits

For those of you who may not be able to afford official Duffy outfits, there are actually a lot of clothes you can buy elsewhere for the bears. Duffy is 17 inches tall (13 inches for the smaller ones) so most Build a Bear outfits fit incredibly well. For some extra fun, besides the large amount of casual wear, there are also special Disney-themed outfits and even country outfits, similar to the ones available at Walt Disney World for Epcot. They also have a Website so you don’t HAVE to try and get to a store (though, some are exclusive to stores). Here is an easy way to find all the Disney Costumes they have in stock.

Some Disney outfits have been retired, for example, this Mulan Costume:

Coincidentally, outfits for toddlers also fit well on Duffy, though, I know some people find it odd to buy real clothes for their bear (or buy doll clothes for their child).

Official Duffy Photos :)

If you take a picture with Duffy at the parks and get a Photo Pass, not only will it come with your photo, but it will also come with a few official Duffy pictures. 🙂 For your enjoyment, here they are!

(Also, with this update, we decided to add a new sub-category for Duffy Meet & Greets under “Duffy” with further sub-catogories under that for each park <3)

More Custom Duffy?! + More Categories

Well, the two Custom Duffy sold the other day–to my surprise, for quite large amounts. Pinku ended up going for $315 while Pinku Mei went for $611. No surprise, the person ended up putting up another custom, and it’s apparently catching on as someone else put up two customs. They are a big improvement to the older ones, IMO, though, I’m sure they can still get better. But yes, for those of you who may be big on OOAK Custom Duffy, here they are:
Blue Sleepy Duffy. For those who may have liked the Pink one, but just felt it was too girly…well, here’s a blue one.

Like the other Sleepy Duffy, it involves some new eyelids partially over the eyes and a custom made-outfit and a magentic pacifier.

Pink Custom

One of the customs by a different person, this Duffy features fake eyelashes, a bow (that can’t be removed), earrings (that can be removed if asked–or they will stay), and a skirt (removeable).

Teal Disney Bear Custom

This is actually one of the 13-inch original Disney Bears that was customized. While yes, that is valuable in itself, in a way, a custom of an older bear also makes this valuable too (and depending on popularity, can increase or decrease from the original).

If you’re confused about why we post customs, do see the new F.A.Q. question!
Also, in an effort to make everything more organized, we now have several new categories. Plus info on old ones too. So, from the top (Note: — = Sub Category–it is a Sub Category of whatever it is listed under and anything listed under a Sub Category will also be in the main category for that): (more…)

Custom Duffy?!

Well, you guys should know about custom outfits (if you don’t, check the FAQ!), and apparently, people are actually making Custom Duffy now! While they may not be your cup of tea (whether it be because you don’t like them, you’re not a fan of the colors, or just aren’t a fan of custom anything), it’s something that’s still neat to think about. Even if you don’t like customs, the idea of there being more Custom Duffy in the future is something I think could be really cool.

So, while these may not be the most perfect customs (in fact, I’m pretty sure they’re the first actual customs of Duffy. Yes, there have been hand-made Duffy at the Disney Toy Fair, but those were made from scratch and not customs of actual Duffy Disney Bears. (Here’s another example of a Hand-made Duffy Disney Bear–one limited to 2500 at the Toy Fair.)

Now, again, while these may not be the nicest to you guys, you have to remember this person is proud of them (and they -are- selling so some people also like them too!). I’ll be summing up the pictures and description the best I can, but please do check out the auctions if you’re curious and maybe this person will not only improve in the future, but encourage others to make Custom Duffy too!

First up, check out Pinku, the Sleepy Duffy.

Pinku has not only been dyed reddish-pink, she comes with the outfit she’s wearing (Pink pajamas with daisies and a bunny on it) and a magnetic pacifier. She also had new eyelashes and it seems she was given eyelids to give her that sleepy look.

Next (and well, technically this is it), we have the Pink Princess: Pinku Mei.

Pinku Mei comes with the Victorian stuff she is shown to have on. The hat and neck are apparently not removable (Well, you could probably remove them, but you’d be pulling on some strings then…), though the skirt is. She also has custom eye lashes.

I have to say, while I’m not particularly interested in either (though, I am still exciting for what this could mean in the future), I think they both come with nice things and not only that, that they were set up nicely. Each looks like they are in their own little house with a cute chair (which is adorable–I want one for mine) and they have various accessories with them. Whether they come with them (IE: The blanket for Pinku and the animals for Pinku Mei) or not, it’s still a nice touch.

And to be honest, I think the lashes actually aren’t too bad, maybe a bit too many of them there, but I think they look okay. In fact, I’m actually thinking about it more with Ahim–I have wanted to give her eyelashes ever since I’ve seen Shellie May to make it more abundant that she’s a girl.

Thanks to Super Merlion for the above image
I’ve been going back and forth about it because Ahim is a Pink Disney Bear and thus, the chance of being able to replace her if I screw up is…well, pretty low, as I wouldn’t be able to afford a new one. However, this seems to be a way to do it without as much of a risk to ruining the bear. It’s something to look into, at the least and seeing these customs have given me some hope that it may not be impossible.

New for Tokyo Disney!

Well, Tokyo Disney opened back up last Friday 🙂 Let’s hope Tokyo Disney Sea comes back up soon too! Despite the recent happenings, they still have been working on new stuff for Duffy (Japan = Dedicated)!

Now, these new costumes are incredibly special. Why, you ask? Well, it’s Tokyo Disney Sea’s 10th Anniversary (Which will have a very magical theme–being called “Be Magical”!) The park has officially been around for 10 years (and it’s awesome and magical and I recommend going. Seriously. It’s beautiful.). So, to celebrate, they have a whole slew of merchandise–including new outfits for Duffy and Shellie May 🙂

(Images (which can be clicked for a bigger view) thanks to DuffyDaisuki from the Mice Chat forums and owner of Duffy’s Closet)

Now, this features quite a bit of things–first, a necklace for Shellie May (top left image) and a necklace for Duffy (below and slightly to the right)! They will be ¥1000 each. Then, right to the right of them (and slightly lower for Shellie May), you’ll see their new Big Magical! outfits 😀 Duffy’s is light and dark blue while Shellie May’s is pink and purple. They will be ¥3900 each. And for those who love the keychains, you can see them up on the top right at ¥1500 each 😀

Edit: Due to some worries of possible offensive content, the event has been postponed to be completely redone. Whether the outfits are still coming out on time or not is undetermined, but doesn’t seem likely. Hopefully the outfits will come out eventually.

The new Kidcot Fun Spot Activity

You may have noticed our new background! It was done by the wonderfully talented, Nomi 😀 The other admin on this blog!

Now, some of you may be all “Why is there a Mickey head in the background?” or “What’s with the dots?”. Well, Duffy happens to sign his autograph like this:

So, if you haven’t figured it out by now, that’s Duffy’s pawprint 🙂 The D.B. most likely stands for either Disney Bear or Duffy Bear.

Due to not having any autograph book with me when I went to see Duffy, I had decided to ask him to sign my Kidcot Fun Spot Activity considering the mask (that they had since I was little!) had been changed to a Duffy Bear–not that I’m complaining, I think it’s awesome they changed it up, but I do kind of miss that mask. I hope they will eventually add some little paper charms or things that can act like maybe an accessory pouch or something like when they were like tails to the mask. He happily obliged 😀

My Duffy Sign:

They didn’t have Duffy’s actual colors so I improvised. A lot.

A non-colored Duffy–maybe print it out and color your own? 🙂 :

I managed to get almost all the stamps. I couldn’t find China’s Kidcot spot, unfortunately 🙁 I’m hoping to be able to get China when I go back in the Fall. For now, you can see the stamps I DID get (aka every other country) below:

From left to right, top to bottom: Japan, UK, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Morocco, Norway, USA
I’ll be sure to edit once I get China 😀 (And make a new post with a link here when I do as well!)

It doesn’t seem like there’s a special bonus when you finish the Duffy like there was with the mask (I tried looking), but I’d recommend finishing anyway as the stamps are really neat 🙂

On the back:

(And as per usual, Morocco, Japan, and China will spell your name in their languages :D)

Easter Duffy and more Duffy Merchandise :) + Question highlights from the news entry!

I’m sure most people have seen this by now, but we decided we should have a post besides Setting Up, so why not? XD

To start, what I’m most excited about, the Easter outfit!:

While it’s announced for April 24th, a few people have already been seeing it 🙂 I personally love the little bunny slippers.

Next, the pin set:

This supposedly won’t be released until June and while I’m not a huge pin person (I get a few here and there), I can see them being pretty popular.

Now, the Duffy-Mickey-Hat:

I don’t know if I’d actually wear it or put it on my Duffy, but a lot of people find it really cute and are excited about it. Despite it’s release date listed (Late April/Early May), I actually saw the hat while I was in Disney in February and a lot of others have seen it and got their own. They do have the tendency to go quickly so if you want one, I’d recommend checking as they ARE available.

Finally, the Vinylmation:

They WILL be open window (meaning you can see what’s inside)–the window being where the white space is. The box design is most likely not the final design, especially considering it’s not due to be out until Spring 2011. I’m expecting either various colored Duffy, Duffy in various costumes, or a mixture. Another idea is various characters holding their own appropriately dressed Duffy. …that actually sounds really cute. I’ve never been a huge Vinylmation person either, but I could see myself possibly looking into maybe getting a few.

Hopefully they will be as awesome as this custom someone did.

If you do have a question related to the news entry, I’d recommend posting a comment there and asking–the author has been quite nice to answer several questions which is really cool, in my opinion.

Some highlights of answered questions:
One question Steven, is the Duffy Vinylmation departing from the “Mickey” mold we know and love today?
Answer from Mr. Miller: The Duffy Vinylmation figure will be a unique form. The Mickey Mouse shaped form will continue to be used for other figures, if that makes sense.
My comments: This actually makes me really curious! As much as I love Mickey, I’m looking forward to the shape that the Duffy Vinylmation will have.

Will Shellie May be coming to the US?
Answer from Mr. Miller: Well, we are focused on only Duffy right now at domestic US Parks. But who knows, maybe…
My comments: I’m honestly not TOO surprised about this. With how long she came after Duffy, I don’t expect Shellie May (Who he spelled Shellie Mae in another post so maybe that’s the right spelling?) to come over too quickly.

Will we ever get some of the Tokyo Disney Duffy outfits and collectables over here?
Answer from Mr. Miller: At this time, we do not have plans to carry specific items found at Tokyo Disney Resort. We work closely with the team in Japan. Many times, elements from their offerings may serve as inspiration for what is created for domestic US parks.
My comments: I’ll admit, that actually saddens me a bit ^^; While I do understand some of the exclusiveness, it’d be nice to feel there was a way to get some of the beautiful Tokyo Disney stuff (Seriously, they’re gorgeous–having been to Tokyo Disney twice, I loved looking at everything) without having to hand over an arm and a leg on the overpriced Ebay or using the help of the a Bidding Service which have fees as high as an interest given from a loan shark 🙁

When more interesting questions pop up, I’ll be sure to include them here 🙂 Anyway, back to updating and hopefully we’ll have some pictures up later! <3
