Updates, Theories, And other random tidbits
First of all, The Duffy Facebook Page posted up another new outfit preview today! I feel like we’re getting spoiled 😛 But it does seem like they really do want it to succeed… or well, I hope so:
It’s incredibly cute and is similar to a Build a Bear outfit available for Disney. This may be a themed release and thus, for 12 inch bears, but I hope it’s not as the hat would be a wonderful accessory alone.
However, that wasn’t the only original image to pop up. There was also this one:
Now, I’m sure you’re all wondering why this would matter? Well, it is the first original image that the facebook has posted up and it reminds me of the story books. What story books, you ask? Well, Duffy has 3 stories (4 if you include the original Disney Bear story):
They even have Postcard versions 🙂
So seeing those pictures makes me wonder if the US is going to make some of it’s own Duffy story books over here. Obviously, there’s no confirmation and I could be making a planet out of a pea, but it would definitely be a good approach at saying who exactly Duffy is.
Edit: Okay–so they’re actually from an old TDS Post Card set! Which is still kind of awesome as it means they at least care about some of the older TDS stuff–I’d like to hope that means maybe they’re thinking of making those kinds of things for Duffy regardless. There’s also the chance of them bringing some TDS stuff over to here in the US, but something tells me that’s probably unlikely right now.
Besides that, over in Tokyo Disney, some cute little Wash Towels will be out starting July 15th for 1,000 Yen each 🙂
Speaking of Tokyo Disney, I have to say, I wish we would receive these kind of neat things when we would see Duffy–as neat as the stickers are, they are only limited edition XD
Now, to end this entry, a few people have asked about why we haven’t posted any pictures of our Duffy yet…
For me, I actually have my Duffy next to me 🙂 However, my mom has unfortunately misplaced my Pink Disney Bear, Ahim and I’d rather wait until she’s here so I can take fun pictures of them together.
Nomi, while visiting family for a bit, unfortunately didn’t have her Duffy sent back to her and is unsure what her family did with it…so she’s getting a new Duffy…and well, actually, she’ll have it soon 🙂
Jun is just busy and doesn’t have a good camera XD
But yes, hopefully we’ll have pictures soon–at the very least, by my next trip to Disney (This November for the food festival!).
Those images they posted on the Duffy Facebook page are from a set of postcards from a few years ago at TDS. Here’s a Yahoo auction selling a set.

I wonder if somebody scanned them and posted them to Facebook? Although, looking at the actual postcards, and the posted artwork, it looks like somebody had access to just the art. There is no “Duffy” font blocking part of the pictures.
I love this style of artwork though, and wish they would use that model for Duffy in all advertising.
I hope you know I’m all depressed now 😛
As for posting it on the facebook, it’s posted through the official account (it’d say otherwise if someone else did) so I’d like to hope then maybe they’d either be coming over or they’re thinking of doing something similar.

You’re right, it’s at least authorized by the official page. If it was done by a fan, it still had to be approved. And, like I said, it looks like it’s the original source artwork for those postcards anyway, so somebody official got their hands on it. I like that they are acknowledging his TDS roots by posting those though.
I would love a storybook including the worldwide Disney parks though, that would be great!
That would be really cute and I think it’d be a neat way to connect Duffy throughout the parks if they did that 🙂 At the very least, steps like these are closer to getting people to understand the story around him more.
